I realized today that I had a blog that I haven't updated since 2012. Taking a look through my older posts, I went through and deleted some that I didn't care to keep. Not sure about keeping this blog, but if I do, I certainly have a lot to change. I will need to share some new things like my art website and some social media pages so everyone can be up to date even if I forget to update my blog. Time goes by and I get busy, causing me to easily forget those little things I try to stick to but don't always do. It's hard work to keep every page on social media up to date on my current work. Anyway, I'd like to get started on a quick update about what has happened in my life since 2012.
After I graduated from my community college, I later moved to Grand Rapids, about three hours away from home, to attend the art university Kendall College of Art and Design. I spent three more years of study there, struggling through rough classes like art history, but in the end I pulled through. Thanks to some really good teachers and a handful of friends, I graduated with my BFA in Illustration. It was a long process, and it will hopefully pay off one day. I can tell you, roommates are not easy people. I have had one good roommate, and she was a good friend of mine. But when she graduated and went back home to get married and have her baby, I was in the search for a new roommate. I currently had lived in a two bedroom apartment, a very nice place and as the roommates came and go, the last one had me so fed up that I moved out on my own down the hall to an open studio room. Lesson learned: Make sure you know the people you live with before living with them.
Shortly after graduation in May of 2015, I moved from a lonely little studio apartment to a house with my beloved boyfriend. We spend every day together now, compared to the every other weekend visits before, and yes there are ups and downs of living with a boy for the first time. But, we love each other very much and I am very happy here. He has two little girls who love me and I love them so much. These children make life worth living. I have been struggling with jobs though. It took me a while to find a job when I moved here because construction all over has got businesses hurting and they can't hire. I finally found a job at a carwash and detail center for OASIS. It was going ok, and I was being very patient with the place because construction made things really slow. Things got pretty rough and I am not getting the hours I was hired for. My boss has become un-trustworthy and I am now hoping for another job opportunity. I am still trying to figure out what to do with my degree on top of my day job. Not much luck yet but hopefully one day something really good will happen.
So here you have it, a quick update on the gap between 2012 and 2015. Hopefully I will remember to update more often. Good day!
Have a wonderful day!
